Villa on the cliff

Zoagli 2009

This renovation of a 300m2 50’s villa that had to regain the lost Rationalism movement charm, cleaned by frills and contaminations, now stands almost alone on the cliff.

The idea is to recreate the feeling of standing on the prow of a ship, suspended in the sky. The materials choice reflect a constant dialogue with the structure rigor.

Light and space, large wall to wall and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea, huge terraces (which were not there before) and domestic gardens hidden in the middle of the Mediterranean landscape bush.

The indoor pool with access from the living area opens, with a huge window slide, on the solarium;
all the terraces are connected to the sea through a small open air external cable railway.

The backbone of the house is the internal double-ramp staircase with stone tread and glass balustrade.
